Sakurai Japanese Panko is a light, dry breadcrumb designed to give coatings a crispy, airy, and less heavy texture than regular breadcrumbs. It is especially suitable for fried Japanese dishes such as Tonkatsu, Chicken Katsu, Korokke, breaded shrimp, fried vegetables, and crispy tofu.

Beyond Japanese dishes, it can also be used in everyday home cooking: for coating schnitzel, fish, chicken, and vegetables, for adding to meatballs and burgers, or for sprinkling over gratins and baked goods to get a crunchy layer. Panko absorbs less oil than regular breadcrumbs, thus helping to create a lighter, golden, and crispier coating.

Tips

For better crispiness, fry in hot oil and avoid overcrowding the pan.
