Soba Tsuyu הוא אחד הבסיסים הכי שימושיים במטבח יפני ביתי. זה הרוטב שמחכה ליד אטריות סובה קרות בקיץ, אבל יודע להפוך גם לקערה חמה של אודון, נודלס, ירקות, טופו או מרק יפני מהיר.

הגרסה של Kokonoe בנויה על שילוב קלאסי של רוטב סויה, מירין, קומבו ופתיתי דגים, כך שמקבלים טעם מאוזן בלי להתחיל להכין דאשי ולמדוד תיבולים מאפס. מדללים לפי הצורך, מוסיפים אטריות טובות, בצל ירוק, אצות, ביצה או טופו, ויש קערה יפנית פשוטה ומדויקת בכמה דקות.

לסובה קרה, דללו ביחס של 1:1 עם מים קרים והגישו כרוטב טבילה לצד אטריות סובה, בצל ירוק ווסאבי. למרק חם, דללו בערך ביחס של 1:2 עם מים חמים או דאשי עדין. עובד מצוין גם כרוטב מהיר לטופו, ירקות מאודים, ביצה רכה או נודלס קרות.
